Eagles not overlooking Central Cambria

During the early stretch of the season, when Tyrone was struggling to close out a game against Clearfield and getting blown off the field by Central, it was hard to imagine a week like this one would come.

Heading into Friday’s Laurel Highland’s intersectional game against Central Cambria, Coach John Franco is working to ensure the Golden Eagles don’t head to Ebensburg with a feeling of complacency.

“We’ve worked really hard on not feeling comfortable because we’ve won several in a row,” said Franco. “We know that we’ve got to keep getting better if we want to reach our goals.”

Tyrone faces the Red Devils riding a 3-game winning streak, but there were times during its 1-3 start when it looked like the Eagles might never get off the ground, rendering a Week 8 game like the one they have this week essentially meaningless. But a win in the program’s ultimate rivalry game against Bellwood-Antis, followed by a mild upset win over Bishop Guilfoyle, began the process of turning a season around.
