Last Time Out: TYRONE – lost to Central 13-7 at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field last Friday. The Golden Eagles penetrated Central’s 30 four times without scoring points and turned the ball over 3 times. Ashton Walk completed 16 of 34 passes for 208 yards and a 55-yard touchdown to Seth Hoover, but Dragon quarterback Eli Muthler ruled the day. He completed 16 of 35 passes for 217 yards and one touchdown and ran for a 25-yard score at the start of the second half which proved to be the game winner. BALD EAGLE AREA – defeated Penns Valley 49-7 at Alumni Stadium in Wingate. Carson Nagle completed 26 of 37 passes for 426 yards and four touchdowns. Nine of his throws went to Kollin Cunningham, who had 128 receiving yards and a score.

Series: The series between Tyrone and Bald Eagle Area dates back to the formation of the Big 8 in 1970. The teams have played a total of 55 times, with two of those matchups coming in the postseason. Tyrone leads the overall series with 36 wins and 19 losses, but BEA has won five of the last six meetings.

Last Meeting: The Golden Eagles fell behind 21-0 early in the second quarter, rallied to pull within two by halftime, and then missed out on several opportunities in the second half to make a game of it before falling to Bald Eagle Area 41-22 in Wingate on Friday, September 15, 2023.

BEA jumped out to the early lead on two touchdowns runs by Cameron Dubbs and a pass from Carson Nagle to Camron Watkins. The Eagles answered with a touchdown pass from Ashton Walk to Brady Ronan, a fumble recovery return by Luke Walk, and touchdown reception by AJ Coleman.

But after driving inside BEA’s 30 in their first series of the second half, Tyrone turned the ball over and was quickly down 28-19. They later drove the field again but were forced to kick a field goal to trail 28-22.

The Golden Eagles wouldn’t have the same kind of top-notch scoring opportunities again. For the game, they ran for just 22 yards to BEA’s 140 and turned the ball over 3 times.

Walk completed 18 of 34 passes for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns in a shootout with Nagle, who completed 21 of 26 for 312 yards.
