Tyrone hopes to clean up miscues and turn things around

When Tyrone reached the midway point of the season in 2023, a win over Bellwood-Antis became a revitalizing point that began a push into the postseason. After the Week 5 victory, the Golden Eagles were 2-3.

A year later, Tyrone is again 2-3 after Week 5, but its 28-21 loss to the Blue Devils last week puts the Eagles’ record in a different light than the one that shined a year ago.

Then, Tyrone was clearly a strong team that had played a brutal early schedule. Now, it’s an up-and-down team that is finding it hard at times to get out of its own way. Turnovers, penalties, and untimely miscues have steered the Golden Eagles’ direction thus far, and that’s something head coach John Franco would like to clean up, starting Friday night against Bishop Guilfoyle.
