Last Time Out: TYRONE – defeated Central Cambria 55-19 at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field. The Golden Eagles totaled 497 yards in total offense and scored on 8 of 10 possessions while racking up their highest single game points total since 2020. Quarterback Ashton Walk completed 17 of 18 passes for 314 yards and 5 touchdowns to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark for the season. Trent Adams was a major factor in Walk’s success with 8 receptions for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns. Seth Hoover led the running attack with 12 carries for a career-high 119 yards, including a 77-yard touchdown run, and the defense dropped 9 plays behind the line of scrimmage. PENNS VALLEY – lost to Somerset 56-42 in Spring Mills . The Eagles broke out to a 21-0 lead to kick off a shootout that ended with the Rams’ eighth loss of the season. Valley would cut the lead as narrow as 28-14 but would never get any closer. It was 35-21 by halftime and 42-21 midway through the third quarter. For the Rams, it was their third time surrendering 50 points this season.

Series: Tyrone and Penns Valley first played in 1993 during the back end of a comeback season that saw the Golden Eagles rise from 0-3 to finish 5-5 and begin a remarkable string of 23 consecutive non-losing seasons. Tyrone won that one 22-21 on a last-second two-point conversion catch by Jim Kilmartin and went on to win the next 17 against Valley. The Eagles’ next matchup with the Rams came in the 1999 playoffs, a game Tyrone won 42-6 on its way to a PIAA title. The Rams wouldn’t get a victory over the Eagles until scoring a 13-7 win in 2018. They made it two in a row with a 62-14 blowout in 2019, but since then Tyrone has won 3 of the last 4. Tyrone leads the all-time series with 20 wins and 3 losses.

Last Meeting: Ashton Walk set a new passing record at Tyrone, throwing for 360 yards on 10-of-18 attempts to go along with 4 touchdowns in the Golden Eagles’ 35-7 victory over Penns Valley at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field on Friday, October 17, 2024.

Walk had 3 touchdown passes in the first half alone as Tyrone built a 28-0 lead by halftime. He then completed a 57-yard screen pass to Brady Ronan in the third quarter as the advantage grew to 35-0.

Andrew Weaver put a run into the single-game receiving yardage record, pulling in 5 passes for 220 yards, including log touchdown receptions of 46 and 83 yards.

Ty Watson ran for 164 yards to lead the Rams offense, but behind Walk’s performance the Golden Eagles held a 468-235 advantage in total yards.
