Last Time Out: TYRONE – defeated Central 28-6 at Roaring Spring Athletic Field. The Eagles jumped to a 14-0 lead at halftime by scoring on two of their first three possessions, but their offense stalled in the second half, paving the way for the Dragons to cut the lead to 14-6 with 3:43 left in the game. From there, Eli Woomer and Caleb Whitby hooked up on a 45-yard touchdown on a screen pass and Brayden Parsons recorded a pick-6 to close it out. BALD EAGLE AREA – In Spring Mills, BEA ran the ball on 56 of its 69 offensive plays, piling up 278 yards on the ground in a 21-0 win to claim the Iron Bowl trophy for the fifth straight season. Nick McCulley toted the ball 28 times for 175 yards, while Gradyn Fisher added 70 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 17 carries. Fisher sandwiched his touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters around a 1-yard scoring run by quarterback Kaleb Iron, who completed 7 of 12 passes for 81 yards.
Series: In a series that dates back to 1970, the Golden Eagles have built a comfortable lead in 56 games over their Centre County rival, despite BEA’s dominance over Tyrone over the last six seasons. From 1995 to 2017, the Eagles defeated BEA 25 consecutive times, including a pair of playoff victories in 2008 and 2013. By then, their lead in the series had grown to 35-14. Last Meeting: Tyrone trailed BEA by a touchdown late in the game before tying the score at 28-28 with 15 seconds left on a pass from Ashton Walk to Trent Adams. That sent the game into overtime where Seth Hoover scored on the Eagles’ first play, paving the way for a 35-28 victory at Gray-Veterans memorial Field on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Following Hoover’s run, Caden Harris sealed the deal by recovering a fumble on BEA’s second play of the extra frame.
The game was a back-and-forth contest that saw Tyrone trailing 28-21 with under four minutes to play. But a high snap over the head of quarterback Caden Nagle set BEA back to its 16 and ultimately led to a punt. From there, the Eagles moved 48 yards, converting once on fourth down, finally scoring on Adams’ 7-yard reception.
Adams finished the game with 9 catches for 105 yards while Walk completed 23 of 38 passes for 218 yards. Hoover ran 18 times for 95 yards.
Nagle completed 13 of 22 passes for 114 yards for BEA, which ran for 170 yards.
