GOLDEN EAGLES DOMINANT IN WIN OVER P-O

Tyrone records consecutive shutouts for first time since 2011

It’s been a long time since the Tyrone football team has had the kind of depth at its skill positions that it has this season.

To find one as deep you might have to go back as far as 2011, the last season Tyrone played in the PIAA title game, when players like James Oliver and Erik Wagner were fighting for table scraps despite having record setting careers ahead of them after their sophomore season.

A situation like that creates hungry players who are just itching to get on the field and create when they get the football.

That’s what you saw last night at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field against Philipsburg-Osceola in a 49-0 win that could have been even worse had the Golden Eagles found a way to punch it in on a couple of trips to the red zone early in the third quarter. Six different players scored touchdowns. Six players also had gains of 10 yards or more.

  1. Enjoy very much your coverage of Tyrone football. Living here in Houston, TX this connection to the local kids and team is certainly welcome.
