Walk sets passing record in win over Penns Valley

It’s not as easy as Ashton Walk made it look last night in Tyrone’s 35-7 victory over Penns Valley. One look at the films from earlier this season in games against teams like Central and Clearfield will tell you that.

Playing quarterback on the high school level is hard, which is why performances like the one Walk had against the Rams at Gray-Veterans Memorial Field on Tyrone’s Homecoming are so special.

Against the same team that gave the junior his welcome-to-the-world moment two seasons ago when he was a freshman, Walk completed 10 of 17 passes for a school record 360 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the Golden Eagles to their fifth consecutive victory in a Laurel Highlands intersectional matchup.

His yardage total breaks a record established in 2015 by Drew Hunter, who passed for 340 yards against Huntingdon. Hunter is one of only two Golden Eagle passers to eclipse 2,000 yards in a single season, but Walk could be joining that select group sooner than later. After last night, he now has thrown for 1,762 yards this season.
