Last Time Out: TYRONE – suffered its first loss of the season Friday at home against Central. The Dragons secured their 21-14 victory in overtime on a 15-yard throwback pass from Bentley Dickson to Parker Scott. The Golden Eagles had battled back from one-touchdown deficits in the first and second halves on scores by Mason Emigh (39-yard pass from Ben Walk) and Reid Starr (5-yard run), but a number of miscues ultimately did them in. Tyrone receivers dropped 5 passes and the Eagles turned the ball over two times, one on an interception at Central’s 10 in the third quarter and another on a pick by Jesse Muthler in the endzone in overtime. BALD EAGLE AREA – defeated Penns Valley 31-7 in Wingate to improve the 3-0 and claim the Iron Bell in the Centre County rivalry game. The Eagles held a narrow 3-0 lead at halftime before exploding for 28 unanswered points in the second half behind a rushing attack that produced 286 yards. Sam Clark was BEA’s top ground-gainer with 117 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, while Xavier Nagle scored three times while running for 65 yards.
Series: Tyrone and Bald Eagle Area have faced each other every season since their series began in 1970, producing some of the more storied games in Golden Eagle football history.
The Golden Eagles won 3 of the first 4 meetings with BEA, but by 1985 Bald Eagle took the series lead with 8 wins and 7 losses. Tyrone then won three in a row from 1986 through 1988, including a memorable contest in 1987 when the Golden Eagles won 21-20 without ever scoring an offensive touchdown. In pouring rain and mud at Alumni Stadium in Wingate, Scott Hoover returned a kick for a touchdown and Joe Steinbugl ran back a fumble recovery for another tally, but Tyrone still trailed 20-14 after BEA scored with just seconds left. All that was left was for the Eagles to kick the ball off and end the game, but the kick went to Hoover, who returned it 70 yards to tie the game. John Supina came on to kick the extra point, and the legend of the 1987 Cardiac Kids, who went on to win a District 6 3A championship, was born.
BEA rebounded to win six in a row from 1989 through 1994 before Tyrone went on a tear, taking the next 20 games – including two in the District playoffs – to build a commanding series lead. However, things began to change when Jesse Nagle took over the BEA program.
Nagle’s teams lost their first two against the Golden Eagles in 2016 and 2017, but went on to take five of the next 6 before Tyrone won an epic overtime battle 35-28 in 2024.
Tyrone leads the overall series with 39 wins and 19 losses.

The Golden Eagles got on the board early with an 80-yard touchdown pass from Eli Woomer to Brayden Parsons and added on when Kyler Suhoney returned an interception 45 yards to make it 14-0.
BEA cut the deficit in half by halftime thanks to a double pass for a touchdown that went from Kaleb Irion to Gradyn Fisher to Jackson Milward for 29 yards.
Ashton Emigh restored a two-touchdown lead in the third quarter with a 1-yard run before James Cowan got the score back on a 6-yard pass from Fisher.
Tyrone sealed the game in the fourth with a time-consuming 10-pllay drive on which Emigh carried five times, including a 2-yard run for a first-down on fourth-and-1 from the 49.
