Tyrone senior Denver Light, who is poised to become the school’s second all-time leading passer as the season winds down, has given a verbal commitment to play at Penn State University as a preferred walk-on.
Light made the announcement today via Twitter. He was at Penn State last weekend for the Lions’ game against Michigan State.
Light had already given a verbal commitment before the season began to Fordham University, but according to his father John he could not pass up this opportunity.
“We are very proud for him to never give up on his goals to to see one of them come to life,” said John.
Light was recruited by Fordham to play linebacker, and he has been the Golden Eagles’ top tackler each of the past two seasons. He leads the team in tackles this season, as well, with 57.
He currently has 3,258 yards passing after spending parts of three seasons as Tyrone’s starting quarterback, 200 yards behind Leonard Wilson.
We’ll have more on this story tonight.
