Tyrone coach John Franco used to say there was something in the water in Tyrone when he was asked how he was able to mold football teams that were so consistently competitive on the regional level.
Now, Franco is thinking there must be something just as magical going on in Clearfied.
In what was supposed to be a rebuilding season for the Bison, Clearfield has stormed to a 5-1 record that includes a 4-0 slate at the top of the Mountain League. And the Bison are winning in punishing fashion, rushing for more the 266 yards per game.
It’s enough to make Franco scratch his head in admiring wonder.
“Clearfield always has a good offensive line, and where they grow these big kids, I’m going to get some of the fertilizer because they do a great job with them,” said Franco. “This will be the best offensive line we’ve seen.”
The matchup between the Bison’s offensive line and Tyrone’s emergent defensive line will be the major storyline when the teams play Friday at Bison Stadium in Clearfield.
