There was a time when games against Penns Valley weren’t quite as complicated as they are in 2022.
The formula was simple: even if the game was close, play out in front because despite rolling out some intimidating defenses, the Rams never seemed to have enough offense to cover the ground.
That’s why even when Valley had some good teams in the early to mid-2000s, the Golden Eagles never dropped a game to the Rams. Penns Valley was 6-4 in 2006 but fell to Tyrone 21-14. A year later the Rams went 8-3 and fell 10-7.
But times have changed, and so has Penns Valley coach Marty Tobias, who after nearly losing his job in 2015 revamped the Rams’ offensive philosophy, creating a monster that has produced yards, points, and most importantly wins, in bunches since 2017.
