TYRONE FIGHTS OFF COMEBACK FOR WIN OVER HOLLIDAYSBURG
The Tyrone Golden Eagles executed their two-minute offense to perfection after taking possession at their own 38 with 1:18 to go in the first half last night against Hollidaysburg.
A 30-yard pass from Ashton Walk to Ross Gampe had Tyrone at the Tigers’ 30, and on the next play Walk’s 24-yarder to Brady Ronan got it to the 6.
Then came this play, a 6-yard touchdown throw to Gampe for a score that was rather pedestrian considering the plays Tyrone had made offensively up to that point.
No one could have known at the time that Gampe’s short scoring grab, caught with ease over diminutive cornerback Iasiah Burket, was in reality the play of the game. At the time, it put the Golden Eagles up 35-0 with 10.9 seconds left in the half, just one more nice play in what was growing into a rout of the 5A Tigers.
